This glass sculpture by Ruth Shortt is perhaps the most soft-spoken piece in the mansion, nevertheless unforgettable. Made of Borosilicate glass, it is extremely delicate and semi-translucent. It may not be the first piece one notices in the room, but once you see it you are sure to discover a micro Milky Way in it.
Draped over an oversize antique mirror, it echos the swags in its architectural surroundings and assumes the air of a site-specific installation. Shortt served as the Atelier manager at Urban Glass for many years and is now in pursuit of her own artistic practice.
